MoistCr1TiKaL Shuts Down Monetization: Why You Shouldn't Spend Your Money on Streamers (2025)

MoistCr1TiKaL has taken a bold stand by disabling every possible monetization feature, asking his audience to refrain from spending money on him and to consider donating to charity instead. This move challenges the common practice in streaming communities where viewers often donate large sums, sometimes controversially so. But here’s where it gets controversial: the topic of donating exorbitant amounts to streamers isn’t new, yet recent events have intensified the debate. Earlier this month, a tragic incident made headlines when a streamer was killed by a viewer who had donated nearly $70,000 to her, highlighting the potential dangers in the world of online tipping.

Some prominent figures like Asmongold and Tectone have advocated for banning viewers who make extremely large donations to protect streamers and the community from toxic behavior. However, Charles ‘MoistCr1TiKaL’ White Jr has taken an even more unprecedented step. Rather than just blocking specific donors, he has made it nearly impossible for fans to spend money on him at all.

In a video posted on October 9, the influential YouTube and Twitch figure explained that he disabled all monetization options on his YouTube channel, including super chats and channel memberships, and raised the minimum Bit donation on Twitch to such a high level that it discourages any donations. This is his attempt to curb what he sees as wasteful spending by viewers.

“Once you’re in the Partner program, you can’t completely switch off bits or subscriptions,” MoistCr1TiKaL explained. “I wish I could just say goodbye to these features, but there are complicated rules preventing that. Still, I strongly advise you not to waste your money subscribing to me on Twitch.”

This echoes a similar situation with Asmongold, who at one point streamed via a new, non-Partnered channel with no monetization so his fans couldn’t spend money through ads or subs. Twitch eventually forced monetization because they were losing revenue from his channel’s size.

MoistCr1TiKaL emphasized that now, more than ever, fans should be extremely careful with their finances instead of donating impulsively to streamers like him. He urges viewers to “get a grip on your money and don’t throw it away on me.”

For those still eager to give, he strongly recommends directing that money to charitable organizations, stressing how many worthwhile charities could benefit from donations far more than he could.

“This would be a far more meaningful use of your funds than giving them to me,” he stated.

He concluded by reflecting on his decision, admitting that although he hesitated to disable monetization entirely, believing he could provide value in exchange, he now recognizes that accepting money just for brief acknowledgment during streams doesn’t offer real value to his viewers.

“Turning these options off feels overdue. It’s time to stop encouraging donations that don’t serve a good purpose.”

This bold stance could spark a wider conversation within the streaming community. Will more creators follow MoistCr1TiKaL’s lead and eliminate monetization to protect their viewers? Or do you think streamers should continue accepting donations as a form of support? Share your thoughts and join the discussion below!
